I arrived 2 days before the event not having any expectation on doing as well as I did as I have not sailed an A Class since Christmas. Lake Garda has been a dream of mine to sail for a long time & when Andy & Dominik from Scheurer offered me a boat to sail I could not resist. Landenberger sails & FiberFoam supplied me with an extremely fast rig, & I thank them all for this opportunity.

Prior to the start of the Euros I managed to sail for a few hours to get on the pace. Going into the first race I was not to sure how...

Thanks for the big work of the team, the championship was very well organized. The wind was fantastic, even if I prefer to sail in places where the tactic is more demanding.

It was a really nice event: perfect wind conditions, the CVA did a great job. Would like to thanks all the people who invested time to make this championship possible.

Hervé du Bois provided the best tactics out of the local conditions:

"Wednesday was the most windy day of the week, and in my opinion very representative of the typical conditions in Lake Garda. Wind at Beaufort 5, choppy and short waves, and strong bursts under the stone cliffs. Everything happen on the start, you have to be on the first line, tack as soon as possible and run away to the cliff. In that particular game, there were a few collisions yesterday".

Fishes should get away when a strong wind gust comes while the main sheet is locked up.

Someone had something to party today. Fine details like age, name and how long it took to cut it are unkown at this time and might remain so forever :-)

Impressions from Michi Tobler:

The wind on Sunday was shifty, the conditions were difficult.

There are at least 10 sailors who could claim the title, the level is really high. We are at the beginning and many changes will happen.

We Swiss sailors have some issues to keep up the pace.

Bad rumor to be heard : 2 days before the competition start, Steven Brewin was still looking for a convincing mast. Rumors of cockfight bewteen mast buiders are of course largely exagerated :-)
